Low smash return

Strokes

Hi PingSkills Team.

I want to ask:when I do my usual smash,it goes very high after a bounce.

But I often encounter a smash that flies at the table level, very quickly.

How can I make so low smash-and mainly, how to return such a shot?

If it is choppable,is better to make a low, spinless return or heavy high chop?

Hi DK,

To get your smash to go lower, you need to hit the ball from lower.  However, this increases the risk of the stroke.

To return a low smash you can use a chop.  In general, try to keep the ball low and with spin.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

I know it should be low and spinny too.

But until I learn it,what of these is better?

Neither, just work towards being able to do both.

OK

and should it then be a more vertical or horizontal stroke?
If I do a horizontal one, it will pop up.

If I do a vertical one,I miss or return deadball
