Lost my mojo

Strokes

I hadn't played for years. I played a lot of tennis. Went and had 5 group lessons of TT. All ok and fun. Bought a robot as i live a fair distance from nearest TT centre.  Had a fair sesson with robot . Next coaching session, i was pretty average. Over the next week with the robot have been terrible with driving and topspin. Went from hitting 45 out of 50 balls in, to a 1/4 if that. My arm feels wobbly with bat in hand. Tried lots of warming up. Same result. I think i overdid the robot. My shoulder feel a little sore and my wrist is tight. Funny that my chopping is steady. Any ideas? I think i should abandon TT for a couple of weeks and start up slowly.

Hi Thomas,

I don't think there is a need to abandon the game for a few weeks.

Really focus on the tensions that are developing in your hand and arm and see if you can let go of that tension.  It is probably due to you wanting to hit the ball on the table too much... Let go of some of that desperation and just play some smooth relaxed strokes and see what happens to the ball.  See if you can get a nice flight of the ball through the air.
