hi coach,

i have this problem of looping long heavy serves because whenever my opponent serves a long heavy underspin, the tendency is the ball goes always to the net or sometime out of the table. even though my bat is already horizontal.

Hi cp,

Try getting more speed on your bat when you are making the stroke. This will help to lift the ball.

Also take a look at the lesson on the Forehand Loop Off Backspin.  This will help you with your technique.

Snake Shot

A snake shot is a type of stroke which is specifically used against a drop shot. It is usually loaded with a heavy spin so that the opponent finds it difficult to counter. The type of spin can be backspin, sidespin or topspin depending on your choice. You need to make a movement after hitting the ball to confuse your opponent.

i find that yes this helps, and make sure you have a good quality, really grippy rubber for this stroke. try having a bit more backswing and really fast long swing to up around head level. a thin contact as well.

The faster your bat moves, the more horizontal your stroke can be.  The friction created by the fast moving bat will lift the ball sufficiently to get it over the net.

The more vertical stroke that is hit off a falling ball is a safer stroke.
