Hi Alois and Jeff!

Can you tell me (and maybe make a video -it's a really useful stroke-) how can i make a loop (with forehand and backhand) against a smash? I often do lobs when i am defending and when i'm doing this i get 3-4 meters far from the table, but as an attacker a counterloop can be really useful to counter attack and come back near to the table.

Thanks ;)

Hi,

This can be a really effective stroke.  The main thing is having the time to play the shot.

Really it is an extension of the lob stroke.  Instead of having a high trajectory you get the trajectory lower and this is in fact the topspin stroke you are thinking about.

The topspin and lob are effectively the same stroke done with different timing and with a different plane to the stroke.  A lob you go much more up and a topspin more forward.
