Hello coaches,

Just a few days ago my exams ended.I wish to play table tennis but I know that my game would be very poor as I haven't played since almost 2 weeks. Can you please tell me some drills that will restore my game?

Also my footwork is really bad. I can't cover a very large area.please tell me some drills to improve my footwork.

And I think that my reflexes are also slow. But, I can see where the ball is coming and attack it in almost half a second. Can you please tell me some drills for improving reflexes?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sourav,

You will not lose too much over 2 weeks.  It is a matter of just getting on the table and doing some controlled hitting for 20 to 30 minutes to get back your touch. If you do this well, you will soon be able to get back to the same level as you had prior to your short break.  In fact you may even find that you play better after a break because you will have less inhibitions.

For improving reflexes, you can use multiball.  Get someone to feed out the balls a little faster than you would normally hit.  This will increase the speed of your reactions.  Don't rely on this totally though because it is a little different to a real rally because you are changing focus from one ball to another.  YOu can also hit with someone better that can hit the ball to you faster than you are used to.  This will also increase your reflexes but that person may be a little harder to find.
