Hi Jeff , I have a problem in playing with players having pips out rubber (no matter either they are long or short) as I never understand what and how to play with such kinds of opponents and win matches against them . Also can you give me some tips on how and what to play against choppers , to do attacking only or to do FH and BH pushing only.
Hi Tushar,
Learning to play against pimple rubber is also about getting the opportunity to play against the rubber often.
Short pimples flatten out the ball. The ball comes back flatter and faster without as much topspin. The Long Pimples reacts really differently. It reverses the spin on the ball. So, if you play a topspin ball to the long pimples, it will come back with backspin and vice versa.
For more detailed information and a video on the topic we have a lesson on this in our Match Strategy lessons under Playing Against Long Pimples. These are available to Premium members.
Playing against choppers is also an art. We also have a Match Strategy lesson on this under Playing A Defensive Chopper. The basics are that you should try to keep them close to the table and then attack to them. Often playing to the middle is a good idea because it is a difficult area for the defender to cover.
We are still developing our Match Strategy lessons and will have other lessons available through the section.
