Reverse Pendulum Grip Problems

Dear Alois,

I am using the stiga charger bat. It has a long handle, atleast a thick one. It gives quite good grip for forehands. Even the last moment change of angle. the problem is the Serves. The handle is giving me problems holding it when doing a reverse pendulum serve.

I am a shakehand grip user.

I tried holding it as per the instructions in one of the videos by you. where it said to hold the bat with index finger and thumb, and close the remaining fingers when serving. It worked with my other serves. Thanks.

That is not the case when doing the reverse pendulum. I thought it might be the handle. Or it could be the holding method. Maybe i should hold it differently when holding the bat with long handle.

Please Advice,

Krishi

Hi Krishi,

Try getting the handle a little away from your wrist so that it doesn't get in the way.

I wouldn't tamper with the handle.  It will be more trouble than it is worth.  You should be able to manoeuvre the handle so that it doesn't get in the way.

Choosing a Table Tennis Bat

Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
