Coach, I saw your tutorial on the placement of serves and since then I've been wondering how to make those long fast serves. How do you execute your fast serves? Is it possible to put backspin on a long fast serve?

Hi JM,

To hit the long fast serve you need to experiment at how fast you can hit the ball.  The biggest mistake I see is that players when they practice the long fast serve alway err on the side of being too conservative.

To find out how fast you can hit it you need to sometimes miss the end of the table.

Hit the ball flat and fast with the first bounce close to your end of the table.  You need to focus on keeping the ball low over the net as well.

Just get out there and give it a try.  Smash the serve hard and fast and see how fast you can get it.
