would you suggest developing lobbing skills during training? as we have all seen from michael maze, lobbing consistently can really frustrate your opponent.. my coach though, gets annoyed when he sees me lobbing smashes.. it cant be such a taboo if its used frequently in international matches now,can it?

Hi Azhar,

The lob is not a stroke that you need to spend a lot of time practicing.  Maze would always like to be closer to the table and attacking.  When he is forced back he still manages to keep himself in the point and win quite a few.

I agree with your coach, you should spend more time practicing your attacking strokes.  Practice the lob sometimes for a bit of fun and change.

I do not know how it is for attackers....but for me some lobbing would be neccessary for me to launch a counterattack ,if I would have enough space

I practise lobbing 20% of my trainings
