Strokes
I notice in the video, and on the DVD that I have, that when Jeff hits a backhand topspin his wrist is doing quite a bit of moving back and forward. When he starts, his wrist looks to be bent backward and bowed out. When he finishes, his wrist looks like it almost flops outward and is cupped. Am I seeing this correctly? Is the power in this stroke coming both from the upward movement of the arm plus the backward and forward "pop" of the wrist?
Thank you !!
Hi Bob,
The wrist does help with speed and spin on the backhand especially. It is easier to use the wrist on the backhand than with the forehand because of the way the wrist moves.
The banana flick has become one of the most important returns in table tennis. It allows you to attack almost any short ball and places your opponent under immediate pressure. Still it is a difficult stroke that takes a lot of practice to master.
