I am Kartikeyan and wanted to know how do you get a good backspin on a serve

Hi Kartikeyan,

To generate good backspin you need to brush under the ball with a fine contact. This brushing action gets the ball spinning around. Think of the ball as a big wheel that you are trying to get turning around by using your bat.
