Improving forehand reflexes

Strokes

Hello there,

I want to ask about improving the use of forehand.

I use my backhand and do chopping all the time, whenever I try doing forehand, it's either I miss it or it unintentionally goes to the left. I have also noticed that when my arm needs to "snap", I hesitate.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hi Chris,

In training I would start with some basic forehand training.  Work on the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin.  Then practice one backhand push and then one forehand topspin.

Eventually in training do a random number of pushes to the backhand and then one to the Forehand which will force you to track the ball and react when necessary.

Often the lack of snap will be because you are not seeing the ball early enough and then have tension in your arm.  Focus on the relaxation while you are playing the stroke.
