I'll have a really important tournament today, the Kreisendrangliste (I don't know how to say that in english) and i must Play against some of the best players in west germany. I'm sure i would lose all games without your help. First i must know how to beat someone better than me (three of them know my playing style because they're in my club, i want to surprise them)

then i must know what to eat in a break without being very hungry or Full of it After eating.

And my Last question is how to play against a balloon defensive player who does a Lot of Spin in it.

Please answer it as fast a you can,

thanks really a lot, Lukas from Germany.

Hi Lukas,

Firstly good luck for the tournament.

The important thing to focus on is your own performance.  Think about how you can play well first.  Then you can think about the tactics you should be using against each of them.

Think about their strengths and weaknesses.  If they have a strong area, keep the ball away from there.  If they have a weak area, put a lot of balls there.  It may be a particular type of ball that they don't like.  A Backspin or topspin or slow or fast ball.  Take some time before each match and work these things out.

Next, take each point as it comes.  Forget about the last, think only about how you are going to win the next point.  Think tactically for each point.  Your table tennis ability won't change too much, only your attitude and focus.

Against the balloon defence player, be patient.  Wait for the short ball and then hit that fast and hard.  Work out which side he is more comfortable on.  Then play the ball to the weaker side.  Wait for that weaker ball that is short and then hit it hard.

Eating is important.  Make sure you are eating a little bit often during the day.  Keep up your water constantly.  A little bit every 20 minutes at least.  Rest in between games and then prepare for each match thoroughly.  If you know what time you are going to play, take the 30 minutes before it to make sure that when you play the first point of the match you are sweating and ready to play it as well as you want to play the last point of the match.

Good luck, enjoy the matches and let us know how you go.
