Hi!

Is there some way to identify the qualities of a unknown/unmarked blade without rubber? I.E. can one in some way judge if it's of high or low quality and - even more interesting - judge if its a relatively fast or slow bat?
My own - and only idea aside - is to bounce a ball on it and compare with another known bat, also without rubber, and conclude that a higher bounce equals a faster bat.

Hi Frank,

The bounce test is the best way.  You can knock on it and hear the sounds.  The higher sharper sound will mean a faster blade as it will be harder.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
