I have a robot and it is fun and has improved my game but when I go to play at my club my practice does not lead to more wins.  I do various drills to help me loop etc... I think part of the problem to praraphrase Bruce Lee, "robots don't hit back"

how can I use my robot to get more wins

thanks

Hi Andrew,

I think you have defined the limitations of a robot.  They are limited by the fact that the ball isn't coming back from a ball that you have hit so the effect may be different.

I think we can rather think of how we can use the robot and just realise it isn't the cure all.  We definitely need to practice with a partner as well to develop game sense and refine the strokes.

The robot is great for just learning a stroke in a static fashion.  It is the first step of learning a stroke.  You then need to progress it to the next step which is to be able to use it is a real life situation.  After that you still need to progress further so that you can use it in a match and then in a close situation in a match.  These are all progressions that we have to go through to learn a technique.

So, use the robot for step 1 but then find a hitting partner to progress your technique further.
