Strokes
Hello coach,Thank you for answering my previous question.I have a problem with my forehand skill.Since from the beginning of my practice I often play backhand.I don't use my forehand. But now it becomes my major weak point. Can you please give me some idea to play forehand as best as backhand.Thank you.
Hi Yasmi,
The basics is what we show you in our tutorial on the Forehand Counterhit.
We often find that players who aren't playing many forehands also have a stance slightly turned towards their backhand side.
To help to play more forehands, firstly practice the stroke and develop confidence in it. Then when you are setting up at the table makes sure you are in a position that allows you to play forehands.
How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
