How to deal with short pimples

Strategy

I just had to play against an opponent with short pimples and he shot almost everything. I tried the chopping mode but as soon as the ball got a little higher he attacked it and even twiddled his bat. It was really frustrating and I wonder if there's a strategy to deal with such playing styles.

Thanks
