Strokes
Hi Alois!
I have a problem that is bothering me. Sometimes is difficult for me to know what ball my partner is hitting. I don't know if it is a topspin or a backspin, which make my balls go into the net or out of the table. What is the best way to anticipate what spin is coming towards me so I can make a counterspin? Do i need to focus on the way he is hitting the ball?
Thanks for your time. This website is been really helpful!
Hi Felipe,
You do need to watch the contact of the opponent. See which way they are hitting it. This will give you the clue as to what type of spin is on the ball.
Watching the ball through the rally is a key to all of your Table Tennis.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
