Strokes
How far away should you stand from the table normally?
Hi Shane,
It depends a bit upon your style. Generally for returning serve, you want to be able to just touch the end of the table with your bat in the ready position. During the rally it is good to stay quite close to the table as this cuts down the time your opponent has to react to your shots. You can stay in the same position as when receiving or if you like to play a bit more of a looping game you can be just a little bit further back. Defenders who like chopping can go much further back.
