Strategy
Hey, i'm just wondering, how does a penholder play a role as a defender? Because i don't see much defending from a penholder. Thanks.
Hi Antonius,
There are not many penhold defenders because the backhand chop is more difficult with the penhold. You also don’t get as much reach with the penhold which is a key part of being able to reach balls when back from the table.

Hi,
The penholders don't choose defending as their key strategy in a game, however, Ma Lin is sometimes seen to defend far back from the table with various lobs.
