Hi Alois, Hi Jeff,

sometimes even fast footwork doesn't help to get in a "correct" position and i have to play a backhand with an outstretched arm (a bit like Boll in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uArgMkskBWs an 6:45).

The difference is: Boll and the other top players get the ball on the table - I seldom do. Any hints on how to practice this situation?

Thanks

Hi Claus,

You can try to simulate this situation using multi ball.  Get the other player to hit one ball wide to your forehand and then the next ball wide to the backhand where you have to stretch to reach the backhand.  The more times you can simulate this situation the better you will get at it.  You don't get a chance to play this ball very often so that it why it is a difficult ball to get on the table.

You will notice that Boll has great movement which also means that when he hits that ball he is well balanced.

#8 - Fast Footwork

In this session you'll focus on increasing the speed of your footwork. To do this we ask you to forget about consistency and concentrate on speed. You should be playing at a pace where you can get around 4 or 5 balls on the table. If you are getting 10 or 20 balls on then you need to up your pace again. It's important to play right to the edge of your ability to actually increase your skill level. We also continue to develop the new serve you have chosen to work on.
