Strokes
How do I improve my forehand smash when playing in a game? Usually when I go to perform my smash it goes straight into the net, especially when I know it shouldn't. How can I get it to go over and land it?
Hi Luke,
If it is going into the net you may be trying to hit the ball when it is too high and dragging the ball down into the net.
Take a look at the tutorial on the Forehand Smash for some more tips on the stroke.

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

Thank you, now that I see how it is correctly done, I will make my adjustments and hopefully be more successful.
Great. Let me know how it goes Luke.

The point is getting into position and letting the ball come to you rather than going into the ball.

How would you smash a short shot then?
When they play a short ball you are better to push or flick.
