Hitting the floor with your foot when serving

Hi Alois!

I've seen table tennis players who knock the floor with their foot when they serve. I'm asking  if that hit help you to intimidate your opponent.

P.S. Can you explain more in a video? Thanks! :)

Hi Vali,

The hitting of the floor is usually just part of the action of the serve tether than an intimidatory tactic.  It helps the server get into position quickly for the next shot by pushing off their leg and jumping into position.  Take a look at this previous Ask the Coach video response. Ready position after pendulum serve

i think that's for to hide the amount of spin from the opponent because without noise he'll know the amount of spin.
