Hey pingskills,

since I know that you guys are shakehand players, this question is more related to our community :) I'm about to purchase this setup for my first custom paddle, so I need opinion on it.

Blade: Yasaka Ma Lin Extra Offensive Penhold
FH Rubber: Xiom Vega Pro ( as suggested by you :) )
BH Rubber: Yasaka Rakza 7 SOFT ( as an alternative to Mark V )

Since I have the power naturally, I need a setup that'll give me some good shot consistency. What do you think :)?

Hi! Just here to say abt this.

I'm also a penhold player, but i use korean penhold bat( Which only has 1 side of rubber), but nevertheless, Yasaka MaLin  Extra Offensive is quite stiff, but have an quite remarkable amount of control, only to lose speed.  It kinda have a short trajectory which i dun really like, but if you're close to the table players, the power is enough already.

About the rubbers, i think Xiom Vega  Pro is good for the FH, but personally i think that This blade doesn't very go well with soft rubbers, it goes better with medium rubbers( My suggestion) as it provide you more speed, and i think the control from the blade is enough to "tame" the rubber.

Which rubber would you suggest for the backhand? Please keep in mind that I'm unable to purchase any Butterfly products.

You can try Yasaka Razka 7, Yasaka Mark V HPS or either Nittaku Fastarc G-1

Sadly, I won't be able to afford those right now :( My budget is limited to 80 euros. The blade costs 30, so I've around 50-60 euros left for rubbers :/

Hmm...Do you play near to the table or far from table, if you play near to table, you can consider DHS or 729, which are cheap but also good!

Depends on my opponent really, If I play against someone who is playing with high bounce top spins I play near the table, really offensive. Else about normal distance from table for looping & attacking when I get the chance.

I have considered DHS as I currently own Tin Arc and Hurricane III (commercial version!). I read on forums that the provincial version is too slow and needs boosters, which is something I'd be unable to do :/

Yup! Chinese rubbers need to have power in hitting in order to be faster. Like that, FH Xiom Vega Pro is fine or Xiom Sigma Pro 2. BH you can use your DHS Tinarc.

What do you think of Xiom Sigma IV Elite? It's a soft-medium rubber and It's on big discount at my store(33-> 25 euros) so I'm considering to buy it.

I've tested the Chinese rubbers for the past 2 days but I'm unable to maintain it :/ They collect too much dust...

Xiom Sigma IV Elite?? Never heard it yet before...

Yup! Chinese rubbers are mostly tacky and collect dust easily, therefore you have to clean it more frequently than normal rubbers and do have a plastic film when not in use.

Just to let you know : I purchased Sigma 2 Pro for FH and Sigma 2 Europe for BH, everything just arrived today and I'm going to test it soon for few hours :)

Good to hear, let us know how it feels.

I can't compare it to any of the top notch rubbers that it competes with because I've obviously never played with them, but I can say that the Pro version improved my game for 100%. Increased consistency, loads of spin and average speed ( I can get same speed with any rubber ). In the short game It's decent but needs adjusting as the throw is a bit high. I was able to hit balls I couldn't even imagine returning them before :)

About the S2EU, I didn't do much testing as it was catapulting the ball way too high and most of my RPB backhands went out of table slightly(5-10 cm). I'll need to adjust to it, but overall I can say that both rubbers are top notch and I highly recommend them :)

Why not try hurricane for fh instead of bh. It's awesome

I already tried H3, I don't like tacky rubbers because I'm unable to maintain them :/ And It's really, really slow without a booster.

Yea you definitely got a point on being slow- compared to my bh, its heaps not bouncy. But the thing i like about hurricane is actually fast(ironic) because the tackyness let the ball stick to the bat which allows more time to brush which has more topspin and faster. BTW H3 national is not very slow. Yea but different people have differen styles just like people playing with pimples vs inverted
