Hello Coach

I have a tournament in next week but I can't select the bat.

As I live in bangladesh , good bats are not available so I would like to ask.

Which is Better?

Joerex or Ninja or Butterfly?

Hi Mohaimen,

I would go with the Butterfly.  This is a well known brand with good quality.

I wouldn't change your bat this close to a tournament.  Play with the bat you are used to.  You can change after the tournament if you want.

Thank you. I love your videos. Improved my game alot. I got Yuki rubber , TBC 301 bat.

I have been called up for a tournament and my Budget is $500. (US)

Please recommend the best bat or the best RUBBERS , BLADES etc.

then i can make a custom one.

HI Mohaimen,

I would go with the Touch with Vega Pro if you want something really fast but perhaps the Mark V would be best to start with.  It will be a big step up from the Yuki.

I am not sure if you meant $500 or $50.  If it is $500 you can probably get 4 really good custom bats!

If it is $50 you could perhaps stretch it out and get the PingSkills Rook.  This will give you a little extra from the Yuki.

yes, i heartily agree with alois' comment about not changing your paddle/bat anywhere close to a tournament, if you want to perform well.

in early september, the night before my second tournament, i switched from a pre-made joola smash to a custom paddle (joola blade with joola mambo rubbers)...definitely not a good idea!  i played more than 2 hours at my club that night as practice, and was really pleased that the new paddle brought additional facets to my game (a lot more spin and power, finally able to accomplish a decent block), but my already-limited touch was gone, and often it was quite difficult to just keep it on the table.

but, in the end, i decided that since i had only been playing table tennis a couple months, and my skills were weak anyhow, i was just going to do a trial-by-fire with it, and i didn't even take my other paddle to the tournament.  i only won 2 matches, and lost 4, getting spanked by some little chinese kids.  i know that i would have done a lot better with my old paddle, but i feel that ultimately  it worked out ok because getting my butt kicked like that lit a competitive fire in my belly!  also, next time i play one of the opponents i faced that day,  i will be in full-control of my paddle, and will thus have a psychological advantage because they will see it too.  :)

Thanks for your insights Douglas.  It is good to hear stories that make us understand things like this better.
