Strokes
Hi, I'm having a problem blocking heavy topspin. It never used be problem but now I seem to be blocking too early or too late, the ball flying off the table or straight into net. When I practice against loopers I try to watch the angle of my bat but I don't seem able to watch the ball all the way to my bat, getting really frustrated. Any advice.

Hi Roy,
Sometimes it is just a confidence thing with the block. Try to be firmer with the contact and wait till the ball is as high as possible so that you can punch down on the ball.
Take a look at the tutorial on how to Counter a Slow Spinny Topspin. There are other methods apart from a block that you will see there as well.
How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
