Serving
Im having a hard time doing a heavy backspin serve, when i contact the ball, the effect is that it will have no spin. Im practicing my game as a third ball attacker, but my problem is that I cant put a heavy backspin on my ball. The chances of my Heavy serve is 30% over 100. Pls help me. Thanks
Hi Erwin,
Try to focus on the contact. Step away from the table for a start and see if you can get the ball to spin on the ground. See if you can get it to stop and come back towards you. Once you can do this you can then step closer to the table and try to get spin on the ball there.

The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.

Erwin, how are you serving (pendulum, backhand etc)?
My guess is you're probably trying to brush down the back of the ball as opposed to underneath it. It's hard to keep the ball short and impart significant spin doing it that way. Make sure your bat face is flat and facing the ceiling, so that your're contacting underneath the ball.

Does the backspin depend on the rubber?
