Hi Sir, is it normal for the grip ( the way u hold the bat ) to change when you switch from BH TO FH or FH TO BH? When I play my grip change and I lose a fraction of second in changing the grip which causes me to not being able to play the shot properly as the time is wasted in changing the grip. To improve the game what would u advise me? Thanks

Hi Loveleen,

I would advise yo try to have a standard grip for both the backhand and forehand.  It may take a little time to adjust.  You need to find something that is neutral that you can play both strokes with.

Slow to Fast Progression

It's important to practice your shots slowly to get the correct technique. That will lead you to being able to hit the ball faster. You do need to practice these faster shots in training before using them in a match.

HI,

Also you can do one thing while practice session, keep small(light) coin in between racket and first fingure and try to play BH FH, after practicing for hours in this way you will get good grip and you need not adjust grip while switching FH to BH and viceversa.

Thanks,

Hi, i would also like to ask if you are allowed to use shakehand on a penhold bat instead of penhold on a penhold.

I don't think there are any specific rules against it. You're certainly allowed to use any grip you like, with any type of bat.

I wouldn't recommend playing Shakehand on a Penhold bat as it gets quite uncomfortable, but if it works for you, go for it.

Hi Andy,

I agree with Kevin.  You are allowed to use it but it probably wouldn't be comfortable doing it.
