hi Alois, i've seen a video of Ma Lin's ghost serve on youtube and so i decided to give it a try. I noticed how the ball tends to stay on the one side of the table and the travelling of the ball stays within the one rectangle of the table. However, when i try the serve, the ball tends to backspin and travels across the table. How can i amend this?
Thank you for your time and help.
Hi Jon,
This is simple. Experiment by tilting the end Tthe part furthest away from your hand) of your bat up and down. You will start to see that at different positions the ball with travel back along a different path. You will find the angle where the ball travels back in a straight path. Make sure you tilt it through many different angles including getting the end of the bat pointing more towards the roof.
You will find the ball travels in a straight path when the bat is flat on contact and you are brushing directly underneath the ball.
Give it a try and let me know what happens.
In this video, Jeff and Alois take on the Ghost Serve Challenge! They try to land 10 ghost serves in a row where the ball bounces on both sides and then spins back over the net!
Sounds simple? Think again.
