Forehand vs Backhand spin

Strokes

Hi coaches :)

I use similar rubbers on forehand and backhand. However, I put more topspin on backhand and more sidespin on forehand (even after swinging the bat). Why can this happen? Currently, my favourite strokes are spinny backhand topspin off backspin and sidespin forehand topspin that looks much like straight topspin.

Hi Roman,

Good to hear from you.  The difference in the spin will be because of the swing and contact.  If you are coming slightly around the contact it will get sidespin on the ball.

It may be good if you video yourself playing a forehand and see the stroke you are making.  You may even be able to video it with a phone and just watch it back.

Hi,
It's not necessarly a bad thing to have that FH side-(top)spin stroke in your attacking arsenal. I regulary play against players who have the same stroke as you have and I find it more difficult to block those FH side-spin shots.
