Hi Coach

More often than not when i hit a forehand smash with backspin i over hit making the ball miss the table or go into the net so should i play the ball with loop or a flat hit.

Hi Ash,

When you are smashing always use either a flat hit or put a little topspin onit.  Trying to smash with backspin if really dangerous and should be saved for party tricks.

Take a look at our lesson on the Forehand Smash.  I am sure it will help you out.

Forehand Smash

The forehand smash is used when the ball is around shoulder height or above. It is a much harder stroke to play than it looks. Follow the tips on this video lesson to ensure your smash is an effective weapon.
