Hi Alois and Pingskills

i am a penholder and i have a problem with the forehand flick, i saw your videos but is so difficult to me response a backspin ball with a mini smash non topspin.

I develop a stroke that i can use for response that balls, then i saw matches of xu xin and i could see the same stroke, like a forehand sidespin flick. Here is a video if you don't see that stroke

my question is...the forehand sidespin flick is effective and in a forehand flick, you never wrist the ball?

Thanks

Hi Cristh,

The forehand stroke he is playing is more like a sidespin push with the penhold grip.  This is a stroke that you can play. He is practicing in a very relaxed manner, working on getting some feel with his return.

This can be an effective stroke if you catch your opponent by surprise.  If you always play this ball it will be long and able to be attacked by them so use it sparingly.
