Strokes
hi alois, i have recently been told that i finish my loops too high and often even behind my head. (against a backspin ball). ive watched some pros on youtube, and people like timo boll for example, have a finish position in front of their face, sometimes below the chin. he also has a much more closed racquet angle, even against heavy choppers. when i try to finish this way i often go into the net. ive been told if i keep swinging through too high i am asking for an injury that will put me out for months. what is your opinion on this? many thanks in advance.
Hi Andrew,
I don't know about an injury but it isn't an efficient stroke.
I like to have the stroke finish in front of the face or at the right eyebrow for a right hander. For more power and against less backspin balls you can go more forward.
Boll does finish extremely low with his swing which obviously works very well for him. To start with though I would recommend a finish as we show in the lesson on the Forehand Loop Off Backspin.
