Forehand Consistency

Strokes

I am having trouble developing consistency with my forehand counter shot.  It's like at one moment it's there and I "feel it."  At that time I can do various drills, play games, etc. with a decent level of acuracy.  Then a few minutes later it's gone - meaning I may still land most of the shots but now it's awkward - it's no longer instinctive.  My backhand, however, always feels the same.

Hi Geoff,

Sometimes just a little tension in the arm or shoulder can see a big difference in the stroke.  Also if you over think it, you may start to add pressure to the stroke.  Just try to relax the arm and shoulder and focus on the start and finish positions of the stroke  If you do that well then the ball will go on consistently.
