Strokes

Hi Coaches:

I am a slightly more advanced player who is trying to conceal my attacks.  I am able to hit the ball with good pace and spin.  How can I vary the amount of spin on the ball without changing my form or the ball speed?  what should I do to change my cross court shot to an inside out shot without changing my body position and give my opponent hints on where my shot is going?

Thank you very much for reading.

Hi Ed,

To change the amount of spin you need to change the contact of the bat on the ball.  By getting a finer brushing contact you will get more spin.  To maintain the same speed you will need to brush over the ball a bit more to get it to move forward and faster.

To change the placement use your wrist.  This gives your opponent the least amount of information.  A slight variation of the wrist position will make a big difference at the other end.
