Footwork
Hello Alois and Jeff,
I have discovered one problem behind my footwork:after returning the ball,I have tendency to straight my legs up.
I also discovered that I instinctively try to always see the ball from higher position, because I found out I do not see how far the ball is from me,thus I do not know if I am placing the ball short or deep.
It can be said that I always try to see the ball from the top in order to enable tracing the ball.
Also, when I am playing backhand counterhit,it often happens that I cannot see the ball because I need to put my bat exactly between my face and the ball.
But without it,I am too high.
How would you solve this?
Also,I discovered that when using my footwork,I am mostly using my torso muscles to throw my body sideways and pull my legs behind it.
Is that correct?
Thanks
DK
Hi DK,
You have recognised the issue so now keep focus on it. Work on staying lower for your defensive strokes. On the counterhit you need to be above the contact level to try to track the ball for as long os possible. you won't actually see the contact because you are on the other side of the racket which is fine.

Ok,thank you.
What I do not understand then, though,is
1)how can I solve the fact I cannot see the depth of the ball from lower position?
Also,I have trouble with spinreading if I cannot see the top of the ball.
2)How can I track the ball without seeing it due to bat obstruction?
I play a lot of edges and fingers due to my inability to find out which part of my bat is the ball going to hit.

1. The lower position should enable you to watch the ball and still move effectively.
2. You track the ball as far as you can.

1)It should,though...or can it be a missing thing from the eyye surgery that I do not know if I am playing short or long?
Or am I too low?
2)OK
