Equipment
Hi, i'm really enjoying your works you've done for rookies like me. I recently spoiled my rubber, so i went to some sporting goods dealers but i couldn't tell whether what they are showing are original or not. For your information, I am living in Nigeria. I don't want to be tricked when i pay the premium price. For example, they showed me Butterfly Sriver FX rubber. SO PLEASE advise me how can i tell the difference.
Hi Jimmy,
I don't know of illegal copies of rubber that are produced. It is difficult to copy the technology. Just check that the rubber comes in a sealed packet and that the markings on the rubber are the same as they should be. You can check on the ittf.com website what the markings on a rubber should be.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Thank you for your advice. It is probably easy for experienced players to tell the difference but i'm a rookie as i mentioned earlier. So Can you give me little more tips for choosing good quality rubber? For example, how should it be felt when i touch the rubber or how should it look like? I'll be very happy if you can also spare your expertise on which rubber is good for a penholder like me.
