Hi Nico,

The most important thing is to spend some time working on the stroke.  In a practice situation do a lot of drills where you are using your backhand.

In a game make sure you are standing in a position that you can play both forehand and backhand.  I was also a forehand oriented player and I found that I used to sometimes forget about my backhand side.  Make sure when you are preparing for the ball that you are also thinking about the backhand as well as the forehand.

Train hard over the next few years and see where you can get to.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
