Recently Ihave been practicing forehand topspin against chop.  I noticed that my topsin was spinny but way too slow and high.Any experienced player could easily punish the ball. How should I keep the ball low and fast?

Hi Sourav,

To keep this ball lower you need to brush the ball a little faster but more over the top of the ball. If you brush up the back of the ball then the ball will lift high.  In itself this can be a good variation but not if you do it all the time.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

yes,i face the same situation while brushing the ball off backspin. If enough topspin the ball has, there is a less chance of facing a powerful return if not then keep back from the table with the hope blocking the ball.

I tried to do this today, but the ball keeps on going into the net.Can I continue the topspin against backspin shot and angle the racket a little bit down?
