Training
Hello,
Table Tennis is a strong hobby of mine and it is very unfortunate that there are no clubs nearby me where I can train at. I currently am using a robot at home to practice and I also watch PingSkills which is helping me greatly. I am wondering if you have any extra tips or advice I can get to become a better Table Tennis player despite my downsides.
Hi Julian,
It is great that you are so keen to improve.
Take every opportunity you can to play and find different partners. Use the robot when you can to improve basic strokes.
We have some basic ideas for training alone. Practicing Alone as well as Shadow Drills. You could also train someone to feed you multiball. Utilise Multiball.
Most importantly keep enjoying the game.
Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.
