Hello Pingskills,

I would like to hear your comments on these rubbers, I am planning to change my Donic Sonex JP Soft for I think it is worn out and it has negatively affected my forehand strokes.

1. Donic Coppa JO Platin

2. Donic Coppa JO Platin Soft

3. DHS Hurricane 3

Also, could you share the difference between the Provincial and National version of DHS Hurricane 3?

I am open for other rubber suggestions. I am a one-winged looper (forehand). I use Stiga Optimum Sync blade.

Regards,

Mars

Hi Mars,

I don't have any experience with these rubbers.  What I would say to you though is, you will be bale to play equally well with all of those options.  The much more important thing is how much you train.

The Hurricanes is quite different to the Donic. Its less speed, but more spinny due to tackiness- so better control-but its lot heavier. Get the Donic, over DHS, since u used JP. Ive also used the JP, theyre good. The best is Coppa Silver, but they discontinuing that line. It plays better then the Gold in my opinion, its can smash as well as it loops. I dont know about the Plat series. But the New line Coppa X3 Silver should be the same I think.

Actually, I did some research, and got myself some gambler outlaw rubbers, they apparently play closest to butterfly tenergy but at fraction of the price. $12! I got them in 2.0, cause max was out of stock, but still they one of the best rubbers so far, cost/performance. More versatile than H3, I reckon. But also a new Xiom Ignito Blade also did the trick too.

Hi Peter!

Thanks for your insights!

I have a few questions though. One is, do you prefer tacky rubbers? Next is, how different is the Tenergy compared to the Donic JP in terms of looping?

Mars,

JP loop, will have longer arc, Tenergy have shorter arc. With tenergy, u can go full throttle. With Jp u need to take care how much power.

In a sense, tenergy would be more consistent then, as your ball would land mostly inside the table. But at $65 a sheet, its a hefty price tag.

But like I said, outlaw performs close enough, and since im no olympic level player, its good enough for me, and at less than $15, its a bargain!!!

Do a youtube/google search for outlaw vs tenergy , you be very surprised.

Hi Peter,

So the Outlaw rubber you are referring to has a soft sponge? How about in terms of durability? JP is very brittle and breaks easily. How is this compared to Tenergy and Outlaw? Also, what specific Outlaw rubber are you referring to? The one with the Lavender Sponge?

The outlaw i got is creamy color, medium soft sponge. Yes JP is less durable than the others. I remember liking the JP so much as well, that i got a 2nd set. But with new rubber technology, you need to change and see what the other rubbers can add to ur game. jp is a good looping rubber, if you want a similar feel, u should go for coppa silver, its faster, but also smashes better. Currently, i got coppa silver on the fh, and outlaw on the bh. its a great combination for my game. Donic rubbers are brittle, but thats not such a big deal. my 2 yr old coppa silver got scars and wounds, but plays just the same. I cannot really use coppa on the bh, as its too fast for that side. maybe try something like my combination, i think ull like it. and i have used many a rubbers over the years, this is my recommendation.

Oh, thanks for your recommendations. However, is there really a great difference between the Donic JO Platin Soft, Donic Coppa X3 Silver and Donic Sonex JP Soft? Of course, the price will dictate that Coppa X3 Silver is better but sometimes, the price difference is just brought by the packaging. The performance might still be relatively the same. Also, what other blades and rubbers have you tried?
