Equipment
Hello,
Does the sponge thickness affects the amount of spin you can put in the ball,or does it just make it go faster ?
Hi Dorian,
The thicker the sponge the more spin you will be able to generate.
With the thicker sponge the ball will sink further into the rubber. The rubber will wrap around more of the ball and therefore allow it to grip and spin it more.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

but hard or soft sponge it's not the same thing for spin and also the topsheet, no?
The thicker sponges will still give you more spin.
