Different Bats for Different Opponents

Equipment

I've been watching the long pimples videos on the site, and I'm interested in trying out a long pimple bat. I'm a newer all around player with inverted rubbers on both sides. My question is this: does it make sense to get a second bat with long pips and use it against certain opponents who I believe will struggle more against it, or should I just forget all of that and stick to one bat for everything? I play at an office level right now, so despite being competitive players, no one has had any coaching. Thank you for all of the great content!

Hi Bradley,

In general I would recommend one bat for all of your matches.  I think it is difficult to adapt to different rubbers quickly between matches, especially when you are learning.

However, it is an interesting concept and could get some quick wins if you try it but for overall development I would stay with one bat.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
