Equipment
I've spent about $250 for a Butterfly Innerforce ZLF blade. I've used it for almost a year now. I was now curious. After spending so much on a blade is there any significance or significant difference with the newer blades ?
Also, there any tips on maintaining a blade like this? I'd like this blade to last for the next 4-5 years or even more.
Hi Chris,
I don’t think there are any magical properties with the newer blades. Stay with your current blade.
The main thing with protecting them is putting on some edge tape to protect the edge when hitting it on the table while pushing. Also when changing rubbers, make sure you take them off slowly so that you are not lifting any of the wooden fibres. Blades can last a very long time. I had one for 20 years.
There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
