Receiving
I am a new player but have learned much from your site.
I am still nervous about certain things like when to use a forehand or backhand smash but my main weakness is how to defend against someone who can put a lot of spin on a serve causing me to put it in the net, off one of the sides or return it too long.
Can you help me with this?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi Christopher,
I a glad that you are finding the site informative.
The return of serve is a big area and an important area for players as they start to develop.
We have a series of lessons in our Receiving Secrets section that is ideal for this.
Once you understand the principles we explain to you there, you will find it a lot easier.
Good luck with your game.
After the ball has left the server's bat, they can no longer affect the spin that is on the ball. Any movements after the contact are referred to as fake movements and are meant to confuse you as the receiver. You need to focus on the contact to read the spin.
