For me control is most important. Without it you will find it difficult to develop your strokes including speed and spin.

You can always develop your serves with spin of course.

I think training with a coach or with a suitable practice partner is far more beneficial to hitting with a robot because of the slight variations that you can get with a real hit. Also the coach can give you feedback as to what you are doing. With the robot you can do the wrong thing many times without being corrected.

Regarding different brands, they all have a good range of equipment and quality. It is a matter os finding something that is suitable for you personally. There have been World Champions that have played with all sorts of brands and all types of equipment.

You should speak to a coach personally that has seen you play and get their advice or speak to your supplier and they will be able to give you more information about something that will suit your game.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
