Hi! I am 23 years old from Malta and I have been playing table tennis for 8 years. I have trained the sport for 3 and half years and counting. I currently use a sanwei national target on my forehand and a tenergy 80 on my backhand on a Liu shiwen zlf blade. I am considering changing my backhand rubber to an antispin rubber. I fell in love with the style of players like Jamila Laurenti that uses her antispin on her backhand and switches around to attack with her forehand topspin. My question is do you think it's possible to change at my age? According to my coach it is very hard to change such a mindset as conventionally players that use antitop start using it from a young age. But I really have nothing to lose as it stands in my country I cope well with 4th u 2nd divisoio players but when it comes to facing 1st Division players I lose and one of the main reasons is I suffer a lot from receiving heavy side spin to the middle of my body and to my backhand side. In fact they all aim at my backhand side. So I reallt have nothing to lose. I just wish to start using the antispin to set me up to attack with my forehand as Laurenti does so well. Any honest answers are appreciated. I am fully that I will lose when I start using it as such a change will take time. Any recommendations on a good antispin rubber that can allow me to do so ?

Hi Aaron,

I would give it a try for at least a month and see how it feels.  As you say you have nothing to lose.  I think you will soon see whether it really suits you.  Make sure you actually use it in matches before making a decision.

The other option is to use a long pimple rubber which has a similar effect as the anti spin rubber.

I don't have any recommendations for anti spin rubber but other readers may be able to help you.

The thickness of a table tennis table is the most important aspect of a table to ensure you get a true consistent bounce. Other things to consider are the net, portability, and storage space.

You may try Yasaka Anti Power (Anti-spin). For long pips, it is still quite affected by your opponent's spin according to others' comments.

I must disagree Benzene.
There are longpips and longpips.
There are much bigger differences among various longpips than among inverted or antispin.
I do not have experience with Dr. Neubauer, but I have tested a few longpips which had completely different feeling.
For example,my own TSP Curl P4 is very spin sensitive for a longpips rubber.
It is one of the softest and I am not afraid to say that it is one of the most spin-sensitive longpips rubbers, maybe the most sensitive one at all.
In comparison,I have tested for example Palio longpips.
THey were very slidy. Very little sensitivity for spin.
I was not able to play anything else than a shovel push or chop due to not being used to such a rubber.
