Mental Preparation
hey alois and jeff i have a tournament this coming june 1-3 and i just wanted to know... since i will be playing in front of many people...how do you get your confidence and not freak out before a game??
Hi Samuel,
Th key here is to focus totally on what you are doing. You need to think about each point and what your tactic is for that point. If you take every point like this you will soon forget about evrything else.
Above all, watch the ball during a rally.
Of course this is easier said than done but it will help.
You also need to remember that everyone gets nervous when playing in front of people or in a big tournament. So your opponents are going to be feeling similar to you.
Do you hesitate to play your topspin in matches even though you’ve practised it endlessly in training? You’re not alone. In this video, we’ll show you how to recognise the right ball to attack and build the confidence to go for your first topspin when it counts.
✅ Know when to attack (and when not to)
✅ Avoid the 3 biggest mistakes players make
✅ Train smarter with decision-based drills
✅ Develop confidence under real match pressure
This episode is all about helping you take the initiative in rallies—not with risky winners, but with smart, controlled topspin shots that give you the upper hand. Learn to trust your technique, commit to your decisions, and stop waiting for the “perfect” ball.
