Strokes
hello.
I am a defensive player with both sides plain rubbers. I am often caught off-guard close to table when my opponent hits a heavy topspin. I want to chop the ball from mid distance.
so the question how can one chop heavy topspins near the table with plain rubbers?
Hi Mayur,
This is a difficult stroke to play. You need to have a very vertical stroke and have soft hands to absorb the speed on the ball. That is why most players that try to play this stroke would use long pimples on the backhand side to help them to absorb the speed and spin.
We delve into the essential techniques for executing a consistent backhand topspin against a block. We cover three critical aspects:

I am using the vertical stroke's. They help me on the forehand very well. I am having trouble on the backhand. I have seen your chopblock video. I know its difficult to do defense closer to the table with a plane rubber but still what can I do for the backhand side. I mostly loose my games because of that.
If this is the type of game you want to play then you should think about changing your rubber to a long pimple on the backhand side.
