Hi Jimmy,

Water is fine for cleaning your bat.  As long as you are not leaving the water on the blade for too long it will be OK.  Just use a damp sponge to wipe down the rubber.

Rubber cleaners are OK and will make your rubber tacky but water is cheaper and just as effective.  You may want to use a rubber cleaner rarely just to get the extra oils or dirt off.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
